Chelation

1. Is DMPS FDA approved?

DMPS (2,3-dimercapto-1-propanesulfonic acid sodium), also known as Dimovol, is a synthetic amino acid chelating agent of toxic heavy metals, which forms a water soluble complex with toxic heavy metals and is excreted. In Germany, DMPS is available as a commercial drug for the treatment of heavy metal toxicity. German studies report safety in animals and humans. DMPS does not appear to be toxic, but because no studies have been completed in the U.S., the FDA considers it experimental.

Doctors from the Defeat Autism Now! Think Tank drafted a consensus paper that includes information about using DMPS to chelate.
