The DSM-5 includes a new diagnosis:  Social (Pragmatic) Communication Disorder (SCD).  Although the social deficits of SCD may overlap with the social and communication challenges in autism, the SCD diagnosis criteria does not include repetitive behaviors. Basically, autism must be ruled out to receive an SCD diagnosis.  The manual states that previously the SCD cluster of symptoms would have been diagnosed as PDD.
