Autism.com is a new online resource directory whose mission is to provide access to therapeutic and educational services to benefit individuals who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) throughout the United States.
The Autism.com website lists relevant information about treatment programs specific for those with ASD, including: approaches offered, age groups served, insurance coverage, in-home services, and the availability of online support services to accommodate clients’ needs during COVID-19 as well as in the future. Our listings are featured in a text-structured directory and embedded within a United States map. Families looking to locate services for their child can simply click on their state on the map which will provide names and locations of treatment providers who have partnered with Autism.com. Users navigate the listings on the "Find a Clinic" and "Find a School" pages featured on the site’s homepage and site header.
Note: All programs listed in our directories must employ staff members who are certified by established professional organizations, such as the Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) and Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP). We want to ensure that families who use Autism.com are directed to treatment providers who have demonstrated that they have qualified staff who treat those with ASDs.
Following our launch in Spring 2021, Autism.com is actively working to populate the directories with partner organizations. As our directories remain sparse due to the recent launch, below is a basic example listing to get a taste of how your organization can appear in the directory. The information listed above will be fully captured in the directory.
In addition to featuring clinics, schools, and treatment providers dedicated to serving the ASD community, Autism.com will work to actively promote the services provided by partner organizations, making it easier for clients and their families to find the resources they need.
We plan to promote the website and our Partners through social media as well as in hardcopy magazines. For example, we will place targeted advertisements in Autism Parenting Magazine, a hardcopy magazine whose readership exceeds 83,000, over 70% of whom are parents or guardians of individuals on the autism spectrum.
Our social media marketing will include quarterly promotional campaigns on Facebook, with campaigns on Instagram and Twitter forthcoming. Our ads will target those who have publicly expressed interest in services for those with ASDs.
We have also launched a bimonthly blog on the website, which focuses on ASD services. The blog will increase search engine optimization and engage visitors who are searching for therapeutic services for their children.
Autism.com devotes 20% of profits to marketing and promotion on external platforms, working to cover much of our partner organizations’ marketing and advertising costs.
As sisters, our experience with autism is in large part owed to our father, Dr. Stephen M. Edelson, who has been active in the autism field for over forty years. Because of his work-life integration, we grew up alongside many neurodivergent people in our lives and have witnessed both the marvel of having such a focused mind and the struggles of coping and assimilating with rigid social structures. Following in his path, Micaela Edelson has also worked in the autism research field for several years, specifically focusing on the intersections of anxiety in autism and pollutant exposure as a contributing factor for autism; she has been published alongside experts in the field in the recent book, Understanding and Treating Anxiety in Autism. Dr. Janae (Edelson) Townsend has also interacted with autism in her career. She works in the biomedical and pharmaceutical field and has been involved in laboratory research on the relationship between maternal cholesterol levels and autism.
The annual Partnership fee is $500 per organization plus $50 for each additional location. Payment is available via online payment or mail-in check.
